Durham Miners Gala 2025

Hade Edge Band will once again be attending the annual BIG MEETING in Durham, supporting the village of Sacriston whose colliery was originally sunk in 1838 and eventually closed down at the end of 1985.
The day will start at 8am with the band playing in Sacriston and joining with villagers and the Sacriston Colliery banner.
The whole group will then proceed on to the ciy of Durham just 15 mins away for the main Miners Gala where we will then lead our group in a procession through the streets. Upon reaching the County Hotel on Old Elvet, the band will pause to perform a selected piece and following this, they continue their march to the Old Racecourse.
After lunch and look around the Gala, the whole group will then retrace its steps back through the city centre and return back to Sacriston. The final part of the day will be a march from the top of the village back to the Community Centre where we’ll finish the day as hosts of the village.
