* Summer break approaches after several memorable events

This week sees the band’s last week of rehearsals before our summer break. We’ve performed some very enjoyable events over the last couple of months and it will soon be time to start focusing on our autumn programme.

In June, we competed at the Travellers Rest March Contest playing Eventide and The Senator. Our mid range result of 10th out of a total of 16 bands was good result considering the quality of the other bands and we took away some very constructive feedback for the future.

Also in June, we were at one of the Parkruns in Huddersfield playing a lot of upbeat tunes intended to spur the runners along and entertain the hundreds of spectators.

Then in July we were guests of the annual Carlecotes Garden Party – a very sunny day with lots of tea, scones and Pimms and it’s one that we always look forward to playing.

Finally, we took part in the Durham Miners’ Gala, starting out of the village of Sacriston. This was another blazing hot day but one to remember as we played marches and pop tunes to tens of thousands of people who lined the streets of Durham.

With summer approaching, it’s also time to say goodbye to several players who have been our regulars for several years. Our Vacancies page has details of some of the positions we have in the band.
