This Sunday, the band will once again have the honour of leading the Huddersfield Remembrance Parade.

🏛️ The parade departs from the Town Hall for the Parish Church at 10.30am. It will re-form outside the church at approx 11.45am and make its way back to the Town Hall.

We will remember them.

Last night was our last rehearsal before the Yorks

Last night was our last rehearsal before the Yorkshire Areas Contest 2024, and it was also our last rehearsal with our conductor Lewis.

Due to increasing work commitments elsewhere, Lewis will step down from his position of MD at Hade Edge Band after the Yorkshire Regional Championships this weekend.

We would like to thank Lewis for all his efforts and dedication to the band during his tenure with Hade Edge Band and wish him every success with his future career.

Last weekend the band were honoured to take part in the handover from the Kirklees Year of Music 2023 @musicinkirklees to the Wakefield Year of Music 2024 @ouryear2024 🎺

The band marched through @ncmme_miningmuseum followed by short concerts from both us and then the brilliant @wakefieldorchestralwind as part of the handover 🎶

***BAND ANNOUNCEMENT***

The band are pleased to announce the appointment of conductor Lewis Bettles. We are looking forward to welcoming Lewis as he brings a wealth of experience and proven track record of success.

This is an exciting new chapter for Hade Edge as we look forward to competing in a number of contests and concerts later this year.

A word from Lewis: “I am delighted to be taking the position of MD at Hade Edge Band. I first stepped foot in the band hall 16 years ago to perform in the slow melody competition as a young boy. I’m looking forward to spending more time in the excellent facilities the band has to offer.

The band has a rich history in Yorkshire and I am excited to continue this legacy alongside the wonderful musicians in the band”

About Lewis:

Lewis Bettles hails from Sheffield and is a professional trombonist, conductor and educator. Enjoying success from a very young age, Lewis was performing in the Championship section at just 12 years old. He was also one the one of the youngest members to join the Yorkshire Youth Brass Band. Lewis appeared as a finalist for the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition in 2014 and a semi finalist for the BBC radio 2 young brass soloist award in 2017.

Lewis has since graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with both a First Class Honours Degree and a Postgraduate degree in trombone performance. After graduating from the RCS, he has enjoyed a diverse career performing, conducting and teaching in the arts industry. Lewis has played and toured with some of the finest orchestras in the world, including the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Deutsche Radio Philharmonie and The Hallé. He can also be heard performing on international film soundtracks such as “The Woman King”, “The Mother” and “Star Trek: Picard”.

Brass banding has always been a passion for Lewis, and he has enjoyed success as both a trombonist and conductor at the highest levels of banding in the UK.
